There will be shallow surface aquifer pollution - Welcome to Exploenergy

Any seepage or pollution potentially derived from the operations at surface level will be prevented by isolating the site area and the wastes containment basins from the soil, as described in the previous section.

The technology used during the drilling of the shallow phase will be similar to the one of drilling water wells. A conductor pipe will be set down to circa 50m to isolate the very shallow aquifers, while a surface casing will be set down to circa 250m isolating the superficial aquifers and a very light shale base (bentonitic) water mud will be used.
