The drilling of an exploration well will be eventually proposed only in case of successful seismic re-interpretation. In that case, the drilling of the well will be subject to the evaluation and acceptance of the specific environmental impact study (VIA – Valutazione di Impatto Ambientale), which approval will follow the procedures set by law.

Well planning and engineering will consider the specific environmental conditions of the area and the applied technology will be such to minimize impacts and risks. The standard drilling rig site dimensions will be in the range of 100m x 90m; while and hydraulic rig will occupy an area of circa 80m x 60m.

• Visual and sound impact while construction and operations will severely impact the quality of life
  

• Liquid wastes will percolate the site creating permanent subsoil damages
  

• Road traffic will increase and create harassment to the environment
• There will be shallow surface aquifer pollution
• Possible blow-outs can endanger the life of the people and the environment
